This fretted French banjo has very nice engraving on the German silver peghead plate and heel cap.  The fret scale of the very simple fingerboard is 28 1/2 inches, and the rim measures 12 inches.  This banjo also has the original tailpiece, which is not pictured, but is made of ebony and has a German silver plate riveted to the face.  I have not yet tried to determine who Frank Coleman was, or if he was a professional player, but the rather unadorned fingerboard combined with the very fancy peghead could potentially point to that.
